OpenCoSF, a conference born from innovation

by Jae Chung

goBalto was a host company for the inaugural OpenCoSF, Oct. 11 – 12, 2012, a new kind of ‘conference-as-festival’ where participating host companies open their doors much like a open studio and salon to those interested in innovative San Francisco companies.

As a part of San Francisco mayor Ed Lee’s Innovation Month, many companies large and small participated and open their doors to the public. Participating companies included Google, Twitter, Rock Health, Salesforce, and goBalto to name a few, with Silicon Valley Bank and American Express as founding sponsors.

Open house
goBalto’s open house hours were 3:00 to 4:00pm on Oct. 12, 2012. We had our in-house DJ (Robyn) spin music for us while the attendees arrived. Our format included a 20-minute keynote presentation, a Q&A session, and networking time with food, drinks, some swag, and again music provided by our in-house DJ.

Closing thoughts
We had a great time discussing our vision and engaging our guests, although not all who registered made it to our event. It was an honor to host the first ever OpenCoSF, we were able to share our passion on how we can make a real difference in our industry.  We look forward to it next year!!!
